Fear To Fear!
As I was listening to someone reading Charles H. Spurgeon’s daily devotion I was encouraged and thought I would share the thoughts GOD gave me.
In the devotion, he was speaking about fear.
Our country, even our world, seems to be laden with fear.
•Fear of this virus infecting them or a loved one
•Fear of being able to survive this time
•Fear of what more the government will do before this is behind us
•Fear of what’s unknown about this whole ordeal
As GOD’s children, HE has not given us the spirit of fear. So from where does that fear come? Our sin nature and more specifically, the devil.
We fear because of our inabilities.
We can’t figure out what is going to happen through all this.
We don’t know how this is all going to transpire.
In reality, we don’t know a lot of things.
The devil and our flesh can feed on those inabilities and become an incredible giant of fear and despair.
So, through this devotion, I would like to encourage you to...Be afraid to be afraid.
Fear that inner “old” man taking over, causing us to entertain those thoughts for very long and then causing us to react in a panic mode.
2 Timothy 1:7-“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
The devil has been working for years now to blur our vision of our Almighty GOD, who loved us and gave HIMSELF for us!
We hardly pray because we don’t recognize who we are and who HE is.
Because we hardly pray, we don’t praise HIM for answering our prayers. Or worse yet, when HE does answer our prayer we don’t give HIM the glory for it all.
We’ve lost sight of who HE is...MASTER OF EVERYTHING!
So, naturally, when we’re faced with fearful times, we fall right in line with every one else and react in fear.
Who is your GOD?
I don’t know about anyone else, but my GOD is the omnipotent, almighty GOD of this universe, the omniscient CREATOR, KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS—JESUS CHRIST!!
HE’s the ONE who made us and bought us with HIS precious blood!
If we can trust HIM with the eternal destination of our souls, why do we fear what we’re facing today?
Be afraid to be afraid. Don’t let the old man rule your thoughts!
Fear to fear anyone but GOD.
Dwell on GOD and HIS Word and let HIS power and love give you a sound mind.
Pray, CHRISTian! Pray!
In this world full of people with no hope, let’s show them someone who is not relying on themselves or the government to make it through this time.
Let’s show them someone who doesn’t have the spirit of fear. Let’s show them what the Spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind looks like.
As we see our nation’s leaders (who, by the way, are supposed to be serving the people) attack our liberties as Americans under the guise of safety, I want to encourage my sisters to stand.
Stand by yourself!
Stand with your man!
Stand with your family!
Our forefathers’ wives endured many hardships to stand beside their husbands who fought for liberty.
Our Baptist forefathers (ladies included) endured countless struggles to bring freedom to people as GOD intended.
The problem is we’re so disconnected from our nation’s history and our Baptist History that we forget their struggle for our freedom.
Today, we’re handing over our freedom to be Americans because of a virus.
Shame on us!
These generations of “standers” did not give their lives for us to willingly give away our freedoms.
GOD, open the eyes of my sisters reading this devotion!
Wake up, you sleepy Christians, wake up!
This is an assault on GOD’s people by the pits of hell. Are we fighting? Are we standing our ground?
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
We’re encouraged in that verse to stand in our liberty in CHRIST. We no longer have to be a servant to sin because of JESUS’ sacrifice on Calvary.
Are we standing against sin in our own lives?
“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,...”
Bottom-line—I believe many are not standing because they are not prepared to stand.
We have to recognize our feebleness and humbly put on GOD’s armor.
We can’t stand against the devil on our own. We’re no match for him.
But in GOD’s strength we can stand strong and undefeated.
Are we standing against the devil in GOD’s armor?
CHRIST stands for us before GOD making intercession. Why can’t we stand for HIM?
“The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.”
We can’t cower to a defeated enemy; doing so just defies all logic. Yet, how many are doing just that?
The devil was defeated at Calvary and that empty tomb! Hallelujah!
I’m so thankful for the victory we have in JESUS!
I’m so thankful to be an American!
Let’s stand for CHRIST!
Let’s stand as Americans who have been given freedom at an incredibly high price...freedom as Christians and freedom as Americans.
