The Michael Thornsley Family
Pastor Mike was saved at the age of 25 while serving in the United States Army as a Paratrooper and an Artilleryman. He had grown up in church but had played the "religious game" until understanding that he needed to repent of his sins and be born again.
In July of 2004 Pastor Mike surrendered his life to the Lord as God called him to preach. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical studies through Victory Bible Institute (Roan Mountain, TN) while still serving in the Army.
Pastor Mike completed his enlistment in the US Army after 13 1/2 years and 2 combat tours in Iraq. After turning down the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) Pastor Mike followed God to his home state of Colorado where he spent the next seven years planting the Old Paths Baptist Church in Howard, CO and the Deer Mountain Baptist Mission in Cotopaxi, CO. While in Colorado Pastor Mike completed another BA degree in Pastoral Ministry through Great Plains Baptist University and his Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry through Great Plains Baptist Divinity School, ministries of Empire Baptist Temple in Sioux Falls, SD.
In August of 2018 God called Pastor Mike to be the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lizton, IN. Pastor Mike and his family moved to Lizton and assumed the pastorate on the 1st of September, 2018. First Baptist Church of Lizton changed its name to True Light Baptist Church on 5 January, 2020.
In December of 2018 Pastor Mike became a Chaplain with the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department. He enjoys spending time with his family, studying and preaching the Word of God, shooting firearms, camping, and hunting.
Pastor Mike is married to the love of his life, Carlene. They were married in September 1997 and God has blessed them with thirteen children: Michael III, Joseph-Paul, Nathaniel, Pearl, Abigail, Unity, John, Samantha, Joshua, Jane, Liberty, Danielle and Stephen. Carlene is a home maker and home schools their children. Carlene loves to write about the things God shows her in her Bible reading. She also desires to be a help to other ladies in their walk with God.
